3 Healthy Snacks For Kids To Try Out On Sundays
Sundays are the perfect days to try out new recipes and consider new options for kids to binge on when they return from school or an exercise regime.
Apart from the smoothies and low carb options, we decided to give you 3 healthy foods for children which are also unconventional and relatively. These are options that you can make yourself or even ask your child to help with as they are easy to make and quick. Your child can cook with you and learn a few tricks on how to go about fixing their own snack.
Whole grain cereal
Whole grain cereal is a great option to serve your kids with during snack time. Being high in fiber, this is a healthy snack for your children. Add some milk or fruits to a bowl of vitamin and calcium enriched cereal and it becomes a power packed meal for your kids. Try to include your child’s favourite berries. Experiment and buy different varieties of cereal, from yoghurt covered to flavoured, there are many options that your child will love.
Quesadillas
A calcium-rich cheese quesadilla is a super yummy option for your children as their evening snack. This can also form a part of their tiffin.
Pick up a nice chunky salsa sauce from the market and all you have to do is prepare a filling for the quesadilla. Adding chopped vegetables or cooked chicken can make it delicious.
Grate a little bit of cheese on top and insert the filling in the pockets. Try bean and cheese as a combination, your kids will eat happily and the snack will also pack a good nutritional punch.
Hummus and Pita
Hummus can be easily prepared at home and all you need is tahini and chick peas. Made from pureed chickpeas, hummus is an excellent dip for kids. It has an appealing nutty flavor, is thick enough not to be messy, and contains folate, vitamin B6, and iron. All you have to do is serve hummus with cut-up vegetables or salt-free crackers for dipping, or use it to make a pita bread sandwich. This can be a yummy snack for your children and something they happily indulge in when they have cravings or post a workout or play session.
An important habit to incorporate in your life is making sure you wash your hands with the best hand wash after cooking. Washing hands will ensure that you stay hygienic and your child can consume food without any worry.
